Lead Devops Engineer

Summary

Leads CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices to automate deployments and improve system reliability and security for cloud-native applications.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The DevOps Lead defines and advances DevOps practices across the organization. This role leads the design and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing environments. The DevOps Lead provides technical direction, sets DevOps standards and tooling strategy, and mentors engineers to drive delivery excellence. The role works closely with development, architecture, security, and operations teams to align DevOps capabilities with business goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and review of CI/CD architecture and infrastructure automation frameworks.

  • Drive DevOps maturity initiatives to improve release velocity, reliability, and security.

  • Evaluate and approve DevOps tooling, automation frameworks, and cloud strategies.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based and microservices applications.

  • Spearhead Infrastructure as Code implementation for automated and repeatable provisioning.

  • Automate and orchestrate workloads across single or multi-cloud environments.

  • Design resilient, highly available, and scalable deployment architectures.

  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks for proactive issue detection.

  • Lead incident resolution, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.

  • Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and promote DevSecOps practices.

  • Ensure compliance with infrastructure, data protection, and operational security standards.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to DevOps Engineers.

  • Collaborate with development, QA, architecture, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Translate business and application requirements into scalable DevOps solutions.

  • Communicate technical risks, improvements, and performance metrics to stakeholders.

  • Other job-related activities that may be assigned from time to time.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Education - At least graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or any related course.

    • Certification: AWS DevOps Engineer certification or equivalent cloud certification preferred.

  • Related Work Experience - At least 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.

    • At least 2-3 years in a technical leadership or DevOps Lead capacity.

    • Proven experience designing and governing CI/CD pipelines in enterprise environments.

    • Experience leading multi-cloud or cloud-native implementations.

  • Knowledge - Knowledgeable in the following:

    • Strong expertise in CI/CD tools and automation frameworks.

    • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.

    • Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.

    • Experience working in AWS, Azure, or other major cloud providers.

    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.

    • Experience in monitoring, observability, and logging frameworks.

    • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, networking fundamentals, and system configuration.

    • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies.

    • Knowledge of IT Service Operations and IT Service Management principles.
