Desert Electric Supply, a USESI regional business, is currently seeking a Transportation Lead to join our team at the Indio, CA location.

The Transportation Lead provides day-to-day operational leadership and support across transportation functions, which may include dispatch coordination, driver support, and safety-related activities. This is a hands-on, working lead role that supports drivers and dispatch staff while helping maintain efficient delivery operations, safe work practices, and strong customer service.

This position does not carry direct managerial authority but serves as a point of guidance, coordination, and problem-solving within the transportation team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support daily transportation operations, including dispatch, routing, and delivery coordination

• Assist with assigning and prioritizing delivery routes, special runs, and emergency deliveries

• Serve as a point of contact for drivers and dispatch staff during assigned shifts

• Provide guidance and on-the-job support to drivers and dispatchers, including new hires

• Assist with load planning, manifesting, and scanning of delivery documents

• Load and offload trucks as required

• Support transportation safety practices and help reinforce safe driving and warehouse procedures

• Monitor and assist with maintaining truck, fuel, and delivery-related reports

• Communicate effectively with drivers, sales personnel, warehouse teams, and leadership

• Help identify workflow or routing issues and escalate concerns as appropriate

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of experience in transportation, dispatch, driving, warehouse, or logistics operations preferred

• Prior lead, trainer, or informal leadership experience strongly preferred

• Working knowledge of local transportation routes and service areas

• Basic computer proficiency

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Customer-focused with a positive, team-oriented attitude

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
