Summary

The Lead Direct Support Professional provides direct care and administrative support in a residential setting for individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include peer mentoring, scheduling, medication audits, household coordination, and 24/7 on-call availability for scheduling issues.

Position Summary

The Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) provides both direct care and administrative support within a residential setting. As a peer partner to other DSPs, the Lead DSP ensures consistency, quality, and accountability in care delivery while supporting the overall functioning of the home.

The Lead DSP plays a key coordinating role in facilitating, scheduling, household coordination, and communication. This is an hourly position that includes a regular shift schedule, administrative duties, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities related to scheduling only.

This position does not have a supervisory role

Schedule:

  • Regular Direct Care Shifts:
    • Sunday: 4:00PM-12:00AM (required)
    • Monday: 4:00PM-12:00AM (required)
    • One (1) additional direct care shift per week
  • Administrative Days:
    • Two (2) per week
    • Responsibilities completed on-site or as directed by the Residential Manager
  • On-Call:
    • 24/7 availability for scheduling-related issues only (not medical or emergency calls)

Compensation:

  • Starting rate $20 per hour
    • NADSP I certification $20.25
    • NADSP II certification $20.75
    • NADSP III certification $21.50
  • $100 weekly stipend for being on-call (for scheduling-related calls only).
  • $25 monthly reimbursement for use of personal cell phone for scheduling purposes only (or issued a TLC work phone).

Essential Job Functions

  1. Direct Care & Oversight:
    1. Perform all regular DSP responsibilities.
    2. Serve as a peer partner and mentor to other DSPs.
    3. Assist in ensuring that all individual care meets individual ISPs, protocols, and person-centered plans.
  2. Training & Support:
    1. Train and onboard new DSPs, including shadowing checklists.
    2. Implement updates to protocols, ISPs, and care plans.
  3. Scheduling & On-Call:
    1. Create and update staff schedules biweekly.
    2. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for scheduling issues (no medications call, 911 calls, urgent care/hospital visits, etc.).
    3. Communicate changes effectively with the team and supervisors.
  4. Medication & Medical Oversight:
    1. Support the Residential Manager with the medication check-in process.
    2. Complete weekly medication audits.
    3. Ensure audits are reviewed and signed by Residential Manager.
    4. Run and schedule all provider appointments (excluding psych appointments).
  5. Household Management:
    1. Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the home.
    2. Submit maintenance requests as needed.
    3. Coordinate weekly groceries/shopping for the home.
    4. Coordinate weekly check requests and ensure proper documentation.
    5. Ensure monthly fire drills are completed; submitted drills must be reviewed by the Residential Manager.
    6. Ensure vehicle checks and mileage logs are completed monthly.
  6. Calendar & Appointments:
    1. Coordinate and manage all appointments for individuals.
    2. Maintain monthly activity calendars focused on person-centered planning.
  7. Additional Requirements:
    1. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
    2. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
    3. Be flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs.
    4. Collaborate with the Residential Manager and management team regularly.
    5. Performs other duties as assigned.
