Salary: £70,000 - 70,000 per year

Responsibilities:
  • We provide hands-on technical leadership across frontend development using React, TypeScript, Node.js and Material UI.
  • We coordinate engineering workload and help the team deliver against the product roadmap.
  • We define and maintain engineering standards covering architecture, code quality, testing, performance and accessibility.
  • We lead code reviews and technical design discussions for scalable, high-performance solutions.
  • We mentor and coach developers, raising technical capability across the team.
  • We work closely with the Delivery Manager and key stakeholders to manage technical priorities, risks and dependencies.
  • We drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tooling and development practices.
  • We support production systems and participate in an on-call rota during peak trading periods.

We are a leading UK retail organisation with a high-performing eCommerce engineering team, and we are hiring a Lead Frontend Developer to help shape the technical direction of a customer-facing platform used by millions of users worldwide. This is a technical leadership role rather than a people management position, so you will remain hands-on while guiding engineering standards, coordinating delivery, reviewing code and mentoring developers. You will work with modern technologies including React, TypeScript, Node.js, Material UI and Next.js, within a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement. The role is based in Leicester with a hybrid working pattern, offers a salary of £63,825 to £72,618 plus a 10-12% annual bonus, and relocation support may be available.
