Who We Are
System Automation (SA) is a software vendor based in Columbia, Maryland, focused on providing systems that support government regulatory management operations. Founded in 1968 and originally contracted to develop and support the US Army recruiting system, SA has become an industry leader in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive information management applications for government regulatory agencies across the country.
Our licensure experience began in 1994 and has evolved to support licensing, permitting, enforcement, inspections, investigations, case management, online payments, public verification, and paperless regulatory operations. SA currently supports state government agencies, licensing boards, and regulatory operations in 22 states for nearly 800 different professions, occupations, and industries.
With SA’s launch of Evoke — the only cloud-native, low-code application platform purposely designed for regulatory management — it’s an exciting time to join our team.
About the Role
The Lead Functional Consultant/Business Analyst serves as the Lead Solution Consultant on the SA Service Delivery team (hereafter referred to as “The Lead FA”). The Lead FA serves as the formal bridge between individual contributors and the Professional Services Manager — reducing management span of control, ensuring consultants have an accessible coaching resource in their day-to-day work, and driving consistency and quality across the team.
In addition to continuing as a high-performing individual contributor on complex client engagements, the Lead FA takes responsibility for the day-to-day coaching, guidance, and development of the consultants on the team. They serve as the first point of contact for questions, escalations, and growth conversations before those reach the department manager.
What Makes This Role Different from a Solution Consultant
The Lead FA does not simply do more of the same work at greater depth. This role carries three distinct mandates:
1. Client-Facing Delivery (50%) — Lead complex regulatory implementation engagements end-to-end.
2. Team Leadership & Coaching (25%) — Serve as the primary coach and escalation point for 8–10 consultants; conduct day-to-day guidance, career conversations, and skill development. Build the reusable templates, frameworks, and playbooks that enable the entire team to operate at a higher standard. Provide ongoing internal training.
3. Practice Development (25%) — Build the reusable templates, frameworks, and playbooks that enable the entire team to operate at a higher standard. Provide ongoing internal training.
