Lead Installation Engineer

As Lead Installation Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for the Installation & Construction engineering activities associated with Transport & Installation packages across projects, tenders and engineering studies.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the main technical focal point for Installation & Construction engineering activities.
  • Coordinate the delivery of engineering activities in accordance with project requirements, schedule, budget, quality and safety objectives.
  • Review the installability and constructability of subsea products, tooling and equipment supplied internally or by third parties.
  • Interface with project management, clients, engineering packages, suppliers and operational teams.
  • Provide technical input and clarifications to clients regarding installation and construction matters.
  • Monitor the engineering scope, including budgeted hours, progress, costs and overall performance.
  • Maintain responsibility for SQDC performance: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Interpret contractual requirements and identify potential Installation & Construction variations, queries and interface requests.
  • Prepare, manage and monitor the Installation & Construction engineering schedule.
  • Anticipate, assess and manage project changes that may affect engineering and offshore execution.
  • Lead and coordinate constructability reviews, readiness reviews, engineering reviews and risk assessments.
  • Attend and support design reviews and Product HAZID workshops.
  • Verify the suitability of proposed installation methodologies, equipment, tooling and temporary installation aids.
  • Promote the use of lessons learned, new technologies and industry best practices.
  • Support procurement teams with procurement plans, RFQ/ITB technical documentation and technical bid evaluations.
  • Lead, coach and mentor the installation engineering team.
  • Support the professional development of graduate and junior engineers through training and technical guidance.

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in the offshore or subsea installation industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines — SURF.
  • Proven understanding of offshore vessel operations and engineering activities related to installation and construction.
  • Significant project experience in:
    • Umbilical installation
    • Flexible pipe laying operations
    • Offshore lifting operations
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, mitigation management and Management of Change.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong capability to coach, train and guide graduate engineers through technical and project challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal departments and international engineering teams.
  • Strong organisational, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Valid BOSIET or equivalent offshore certification, when required for offshore campaigns.
  • Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Portuguese would be an advantage.
  • Location: Lisbon, Portugal
  • Work arrangement: Mainly based at the company’s Lisbon premises
  • Start date: Immediate
  • Contract duration: Minimum 12 months
  • Travel: Occasional international business trips and site assignments
  • Participation in vessel mobilisation activities
  • Attendance during offshore installation campaigns, depending on project requirements
