Job Summary:
The Lead IV Technician at Polaris Pharmacy Services is responsible for overseeing the preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications. This role ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations while maintaining high-quality service and safety protocols. The Lead IV Technician will also provide leadership and guidance to the IV team, ensuring efficient workflow and exceptional patient care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the IV pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of IV medications.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee the proper storage, handling, and disposal of IV medications and related supplies.
- Train and mentor IV technicians, providing ongoing education and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and address any medication-related concerns.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain accurate records of all IV medication preparations and transactions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Participate in inventory management, including ordering and restocking IV supplies as needed.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to IV medication preparation or delivery.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication among staff.
