Lead Java Developer at PBT Group in South Africa building scalable, high-performance enterprise backend applications for end-to-end customer projects. Day-to-day work centres on Java (preferably 17), Spring Boot/MVC, SQL/MSSQL data models, unit testing and Agile collaboration, with Git, CI/CD and AWS/Azure as pluses.
We're hiring a Java Developer to join our team and help build scalable, high-performance enterprise applications across end-to-end customer projects.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend applications using Java (preferably Java 17)
- Design and deliver end-to-end solutions, including business logic and SQL data models
- Write efficient, testable, high-quality code
- Review technical designs and ensure best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams
- Optimise application performance and troubleshoot issues
What You Bring
- 3+ years' experience in backend Java development
- Strong Core Java, data structures & design patterns knowledge
- Experience with Spring Boot / MVC
- Solid SQL & database experience (MSSQL advantageous)
- Unit testing experience
- Understanding of software architecture & system integration
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
