Overview

In this Lead Java Engineer role, you will shape the CDSClear risk platform, delivering production-grade risk models and execution patterns at scale. You’ll work closely with risk, pricing and analytics teams to ensure correctness, performance and resilience in a regulated environment. You’ll influence architecture and drive end-to-end delivery, from design to controlled production releases. This is a hands-on IC role with leadership influence and a clear impact on platform direction.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Java engineering across the full SDLC within the CDSClear Risk Development team
  • Design and evolve core risk-engine components for intraday and overnight margin calculations
  • Translate analytic requirements into production-grade risk model implementations
  • Provide technical leadership across risk calculation orchestration
  • Integrate market data, trade data, reference data and model parameters
  • Focus on performance, scalability, determinism and failure handling
  • Owner-through-delivery of business requirements from development to production release
  • Drive platform evolution with both incremental and architectural changes
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security and DevOps to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Participate in third-line system support and out-of-hours rota when required
Key requirements
  • Strong server-side Java engineering experience (Java 11+; Java 17+ preferred) using Spring / Spring Boot
  • Ability to understand quantitative models and implement them in production systems
  • Experience contributing to or shaping a risk-engine architecture for large-scale models
  • Understanding of enterprise concerns: performance, scalability, resilience, auditability and controls
  • Comfort working in regulated environments with disciplined SDLC and production change processes
  • Clear communication with the ability to influence technical decisions
  • Ownership mindset focused on quality, robustness and maintainability
  • Interest in modern engineering productivity approaches and AI-assisted tooling usage appropriately in controlled environments
