Lead Java Software Engineer

Java, Shell (Trust & Platform); Java, TypeScript, Robot Framework (Experience & Data); Spec-Driven Development (SDD); AI-assisted dev lifecycle (AI-DLC)

Engineering manager building a new team of 7–8 (developers + automation/QE); owns hiring, backlog refinement, Definition of Ready, mentoring and delivery reporting. Partners with a Staff SWE who holds technical direction.

• Lead a team of 7–8 across development and automation/QE
• Own backlog refinement and gatekeep Definition of Ready
• Own mentoring, onboarding and career development
• Lead recruitment, including running interview panels
• Participate in code review (reading, not delivering features)
• Report delivery/quality status; manage scope change with Product
• Build a new team and its working practices from scratch

• 3+ years managing software engineering teams, plus prior engineering background
• Reading fluency in team languages (Java, Shell, TypeScript, Robot Framework)
• Track record hiring/onboarding engineers
• Backlog refinement and Definition of Ready experience
• Experience growing intermediate engineers into senior
• Demonstrated SDD and AI-DLC practices (or equivalent)
