Lead Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Project

Location: Denmark
Work model: On-site

Your responsibilities

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will take full responsibility for mechanical engineering and commissioning delivery on a major Data Centre project—from design and procurement through installation, testing and final handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• leading the mechanical engineering function throughout the complete project lifecycle;
• managing the mechanical engineering team and assigning Engineers to individual work packages;
• taking ownership of design management and technical coordination;
• leading the mechanical commissioning process;
• ensuring systems are buildable, testable and ready in line with the project programme;
• coordinating mechanical works with Electrical, CSA, BIM and commissioning teams;
• overseeing technical procurement, including RFQs, technical evaluations and equipment selection;
• monitoring equipment approvals, manufacturing and deliveries;
• managing technical submittals, RFIs, deviations, system trackers and design changes;
• overseeing ITPs, test packs, FATs, SATs, walkdowns and system handover;
• leading flushing, balancing, pressure testing and certification activities;
• ensuring compliance with HSE, quality and project requirements;
• identifying technical, commissioning and programme risks;
• developing mitigation plans and escalating significant issues;
• supporting programme development, commissioning sequences and lookahead planning;
• maintaining effective relationships with clients, designers, contractors and vendors;
• mentoring Project Engineers and Graduate Engineers;
• providing structured technical and progress reports to senior leadership.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have:

• senior-level mechanical engineering experience on large and technically complex projects;
• experience leading mechanical engineering teams and work packages;
• previous experience within Data Centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or mission-critical environments;
• strong knowledge of mechanical design, procurement, installation and commissioning;
• experience with HVAC, pipework, cooling and associated mechanical systems;
• practical knowledge of ITPs, test packs, FATs, SATs and system walkdowns;
• experience managing technical submittals, RFIs and design changes;
• the ability to coordinate Mechanical, Electrical and CSA interfaces;
• strong understanding of programme sequencing and commissioning requirements;
• commercial awareness and the ability to assess technical risks and cost impacts;
• confident leadership and stakeholder-management skills;
• a practical, structured and solutions-focused approach;
• good command of English;
• legal eligibility to work in Denmark.

Previous experience leading mechanical engineering and commissioning delivery on a hyperscale Data Centre project will be a significant advantage.
