HVAC Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in heating and cooling load calculations, HVAC system design, and ductwork design. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing mechanical systems for a variety of building types, including commercial, residential, high-rise, data centers, restaurants, and other complex building projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing efficient HVAC solutions from concept through construction documentation, performing detailed engineering calculations, coordinating with project teams, and delivering high-quality mechanical designs that meet project requirements, energy standards, and applicable codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard methods and software.
• Design HVAC systems including air distribution systems, ductwork layouts, equipment selection, and mechanical system sizing.
• Develop HVAC design documents including plans, schedules, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Perform ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, and system performance evaluations.
• Design and coordinate ductwork systems for various applications, including VAV systems, rooftop units, split systems, VRF systems, central plants, and other HVAC configurations.
• Evaluate energy efficiency opportunities and support building performance improvements.
• Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and construction teams.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide technical support during construction phases.
• Assist with project planning, client coordination, and technical proposals.
• Support business development activities and maintain strong client relationships.

Project Experience: Candidates should have experience designing HVAC systems for a variety of project types, such as:

• Commercial office buildings
• Multi-family and residential developments
• High-rise buildings
• Data centers and mission-critical facilities
• Restaurants and hospitality projects
• Retail and mixed-use developments
• Healthcare, education, and government facilities
• Industrial and specialty facilities

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in HVAC engineering, mechanical design, and building systems design.
• Strong understanding of HVAC fundamentals, heat transfer, psychrometrics, and building load calculations.
• Experience with HVAC design software and energy modeling tools.
• Proficiency in ductwork design, air balancing concepts, and mechanical system coordination.
• Experience preparing mechanical construction documents and specifications.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with commercial and complex building projects preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Business development and client-facing experience is a plus.
