Lead Medical Support Assistant
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Lead Medical Support Assistant (MSA) within the Enrollment and Eligibility section of the Health Administration Service (HAS) at the El Paso VA Health Care System. The incumbent provides leadership support, workflow coordination, and technical guidance to ensure the effective delivery of eligibility and enrollment services for Veterans seeking care and benefits across the Health Care System.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Lead MSA is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, workflow coordination, and operational oversight for staff assigned to the Enrollment, Eligibility & Registration (EE&R) section. The incumbent monitors work assignments, distributes tasks, balances workload according to mission needs, and ensures all responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This position conducts ongoing reviews of staff performance and work quality, resolves routine workplace and operational issues, and maintains efficient workflow across the service area. The Lead MSA sets the tone for professionalism within the unit and fosters a positive and collaborative work environment by modeling VA values, mentoring employees, and supporting team cohesion and morale. The incumbent ensures staff members are informed of updates to policies and procedures, provides on-the-job training and orientation to new and current personnel, maintains accurate and effective schedules for employees, and acts as a liaison between MSAs, Health Benefits Advisors, and clinical or administrative stakeholders to resolve day-to-day concerns that may impact Veteran access or service delivery.
