We are seeking an experienced Lead Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale
cloud-native backend systems for our SaaS platform.
You will play a key role in shaping system architecture, improving performance, and delivering
robust services that support high-traffic, customer-facing applications.

This role combines hands-on engineering with architectural influence.
You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and distributed teams to
deliver reliable and scalable solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using C# and .NET (6+)
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs to support modern frontend applications
• Architect and implement microservices-based systems with a focus on modularity and
resilience
• Develop and deploy solutions leveraging AWS cloud services
• Ensure systems are highly available, secure, and performant
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure smooth API integration and performance
• Partner with product and design teams to translate business requirements into technical
solutions
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and agile ceremonies
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry best practices
• Implement automated testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end)
• Identify and reduce technical debt, improving long-term system sustainability
• Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
• Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement
initiatives

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering (web or SaaS environments)
• Experience leading a team
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core
• Experience building and maintaining web-based applications and APIs
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architecture
• Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Experience designing and implementing event-driven systems
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and ORM tools (e.g., Entity
Framework)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and
Elasticsearch
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, TeamCity)
• Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to serverless architectures
• Experience supporting backend systems for modern frontend frameworks (e.g.,
React)
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools
