Lead Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer
OCI is expanding rapidly across existing and new regions. The Next Generation Networking organization is investing in systems that reduce customer impact minutes while enabling operational scale with flat or sub-linear headcount growth in Network Engineering and Operations.
In this high-impact technical leadership role, you will define the architecture for a unified global intelligence and control layer, fusing real-time observability with near-term traffic prediction to enable a closed-loop Observe–Predict–Decide–Act model. You will combine deep networking and distributed-systems expertise with automation, algorithms, and applied AI/ML to build resilient, highly available services at hyper scale. You will collaborate closely with Network Engineering, Network Automation and Monitoring, OCI Resilience and Reliability to deliver end-to-end capabilities that improve OCI reliability and customer experience.
Responsibilities
* Define and lead the technical vision and architecture for Next-Generation network intelligence platform, pushing intelligence to end hosts and SmartNICs while preserving the network core as a high-performance, deterministic forwarding plane.
* Design, implement, and operate distributed control-plane and observability software for data center and WAN network orchestration.
* Develop algorithms for route computation, congestion management, fault isolation, traffic steering, and recovery.
* Build systems that correlate real-time network and infrastructure signals, identify customer impact, and trigger safe automated responses.
* Architect scalable, fault-tolerant, secure, and highly available services that operate reliably at OCI scale.
* Drive complex incident analysis and resolution across distributed systems and real-time network state.
* Maintain clear technical documentation for architecture, implementation, operational procedures, and system evolution.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
* 10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems, network control planes, observability platforms.
* Deep knowledge of networking technologies, including L2/L3 networking, routing and switching, SDN, traffic engineering, and WAN technologies.
* Experience applying machine learning or AI frameworks and techniques to operational or network intelligence problems is a plus.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing other engineers.
