Lead Security Officer (3564)
Summary
Oversee security staff, patrol facilities, monitor cameras, and enforce safety rules to protect property and people at a Goodwill location in Miami.
Summary: This position reports directly to the Asset Protection & Security Department. It is responsible for protecting, safeguarding, and securing all Goodwill's property, personnel, customers, and visitors against unauthorized entry, loss, or damage from theft, fire, or other causes. Responsibilities include overseeing other security officers and enforcing rules and regulations within buildings or areas where people congregate.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- On a weekly basis, create and ensure the fairness of security work schedules, taking into account days off for all officers.
- Oversee all security officers when on premises and ensure everyone is doing their jobs according to their job descriptions
- Check security cameras when requested.
- Perform security patrols inside and outside buildings or designated areas and observe for potential threats, including prowlers, fire, theft, embezzlement, sabotage, accidents, or any other danger that could result in loss or damage to property.
- Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations.
- Interview security applicants when needed.
- Responsible for assigning parking spaces to employees and keeping the list up to date.
- Communicate with the Miami Parking Authority representative to keep parking slots current.
- Investigate and write reports when alarms are activated for any reason. Assists customers, employees, and visitors as needed.
- Enforces rules and regulations about the safeguarding of assigned facilities. Report disturbances or suspicious activities immediately to the proper authority.
- Ensures that lights are turned on or off as required and that gates and doors are correctly locked; notes and reports any faulty lights and equipment that may need replacement or repair.
- Assist in any emergency situation as needed.
- Ensures everyone wears the correct badge when entering the building or on the premises.
- Opens and/or closes the building as required by schedule or as needed. The post cannot be left unattended, nor can the gates be left open.
- Report any prowlers or unauthorized persons discovered in restricted areas to the Police Department via radio or telephone, when circumstances require such action.
- Prevents unauthorized persons from entering assigned closed parts of buildings, facilities, or grounds; maintains records of people and vehicles entering and leaving the property after closing or weekends.
- Report all absences and tardiness to the Human Resources Director as early as possible so adjustments to the schedule can be made promptly, and coverage of the premises will never be interrupted.
- May be required to work different shifts and weekends as needed. Maintain the work area clean at all times.
- Ability to prepare and maintain routine records and reports
- Ability to detect possible improper conduct, analyze the situation, and take appropriate action to correct or report the condition.
- Must be able to work long hours alone, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to extreme weather and unpredictable crises.
- Ability to remain alert on evening and night shifts if assigned. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public as required.
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations. Ability to operate a two-way radio.
