Lead Security Officer

The Lead Security Officer of Physical Security will be based in the New York office and be responsible for assuring the safety and security of the personnel and property of the firm. The Lead Security Officer will report to the Manager of Physical Security.

The hours for this position are 11:00pm ET to 7:00am ET.

  • Patrols and conducts inspection of the office space; identifies and corrects any security or fire hazards; locks unlocked and unoccupied offices; opens doors at proper times based on operating schedule and ensures that receptionists secure premises at closing.
  • Screens, admits, and directs clients, employees and visitors entering the workspace.
  • Monitors closed-circuit television and fire-door alarms, responds to fire alarm as needed.
  • Monitors access control system, AMAG, and responds to any activated alarms.
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Blue Box, AMAG, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Unlocks freight doors and office doors for Firm personnel; records all admissions into offices or secured areas.
  • Monitors use of identification card readers.
  • Assists Human Resources with employee terminations and escorts when required.
  • Assists Security Management with both on-site and off-site special events, including high profile visitor entry.
  • Assists and/or lead EAP and fire evacuation drills and building emergency response.
  • Documents any unusual situations including accidents, illnesses, criminal activity, and equipment malfunction and forwards the reports to Security Management.
  • Engages in special investigations involving misplaced/lost articles within the Firm.
  • Reports all unusual occurrences or conditions and any incident of visitor or employee actions, which could result in injury or loss to the Firm or employees to Security Management and, if appropriate, to police authorities.
  • Responds quickly to any medical or criminal emergencies; performs emergency first aid as needed; telephones police or emergency medical teams as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Be knowledgeable of the firm’s policies, as well as its emergency and disaster response protocols.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience
  • Maintain a valid NYS Security Guard License
  • Ability to obtain job related certification including NYS Security Guard License, and first aid/defibrillator/CPR training
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions
  • Ability to stand or sit at workstation, and ability to walk, for extended periods of time
  • Ability to exert moderate to high physical energy to ensure quick response to medical or criminal emergencies
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Must deal courteously/effectively with others
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively

This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis. The anticipated compensation for this position is $40,000 - $48,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
