Lead Shopify Engineer

We are looking for Lead Shopify Engineer to own, scale, and innovate our e-commerce technical ecosystem.

As the Lead Shopify Engineer, you will act as the technical authority for all things Shopify. You will lead a talented team of developers, collaborate with product managers, designers, and marketers, and architect robust, high-performing, and scalable solutions on Shopify/Shopify Plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end technical architecture of our Shopify ecosystem, including theme development, headless setups, third-party integrations, and custom apps
• Drive technical decision-making around technology stack choices, app selections, and custom vs out-of-the-box solutions
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, scalability, and security across all Shopify properties
• Build and maintain advanced custom Shopify themes using Liquid, Storefront API, custom Apps, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Develop and maintain custom Shopify apps using Node.js, React, GraphQL, and other Shopify APIs
• Implement headless commerce solutions leveraging Shopify Hydrogen/Oxygen or React-based frontends where applicable
• Integrate complex third-party services, ERPs, CRM systems, payment gateways, and marketing automation tools via APIs and Webhooks
• Collaborate closely with Product, UX/UI Design, and Marketing teams to turn business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 4+ years dedicated to the Shopify ecosystem (Shopify Plus experience strongly preferred)
• Proven experience leading technical teams or acting in a senior/lead engineering capacity
• Expert-level knowledge of Shopify Liquid, Storefront API, Admin API, GraphQL, and Webhooks
• Advanced knowledge of architecture principles and ability to make and prove architectural decisions to stakeholders
• Deep proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js
• Experience with headless Shopify architectures (Hydrogen, Next.js, or similar frameworks) is a strong plus
• Proficiency with Shopify CLI, GitHub/Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
• Experience with build tools (Webpack, Vite) and modern styling frameworks (Tailwind CSS, Sass)
