Location: Frimley
Working pattern: Hybrid - only a few days per month onsite
Salary: Up to £100,000 + benefits
Security clearance: Minimum SC clearance required; DV clearance preferred
We are recruiting an experienced Lead SOC Architect to join BAE Systems Digital Intelligence and design advanced Security Operations Centre solutions for clients operating within highly secure environments.
This is a senior, client-facing position covering the complete lifecycle of SOC solutions-from requirements gathering and initial architecture through to detailed design, deployment, assessment and operational improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Architect end-to-end SOC solutions across people, processes, services, technology and physical infrastructure.
- Engage with clients to understand security, operational and accreditation requirements.
- Develop SOC concepts of operation, high-level designs, low-level designs and deployment designs.
- Shape solutions across SIEM, SOAR, EDR, vulnerability management and threat intelligence.
- Assess existing SOC environments and recommend improvements to capability and maturity.
- Support the design, configuration and deployment of security technologies.
- Design secure, scalable and resilient on-premises and cloud architectures.
- Define security controls covering areas such as least privilege, encryption and access management.
- Conduct risk assessments and support vulnerability-management activities.
- Research and test potential solutions for new or unusual security requirements.
- Work closely with product specialists and technical subject-matter experts.
- Advise government clients and senior stakeholders throughout delivery.
- Significant experience designing or architecting Security Operations Centre solutions.
- Strong knowledge of SOC operating models, services, people, processes and technology.
- Design, build or deployment experience across at least two of the following:
- SIEM
- SOAR
- EDR
- Vulnerability management
- Threat intelligence
- Knowledge of common cyber threats and mitigation techniques.
- Experience with risk assessment and vulnerability management.
- Understanding of on-premises and cloud security architectures.
- Ability to design scalable, resilient and secure solutions.
- Experience producing architecture and technical-design documentation.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience working with government systems and senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Agile, Lean, iterative and Waterfall delivery approaches.
- DV clearance.
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Knowledge of common enterprise ICT services.
- Experience working within defence, national security or another highly regulated environment.
Candidates must hold a minimum of active SC clearance, with DV clearance strongly preferred.
