Lead Software Developer - Finance

Summary

Lead a fintech team building core trading applications and APIs using C# .NET Core, mentoring engineers, and shaping product vision in a fast-growing Newcastle-based startup.

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russell Group university
  • As at A-level
  • Experience in a similar role in a finance / trading / hedge fund environment
  • Strong technical and team leadership skills
  • Experience conducting 1-2-1s, providing coaching, mentoring, and project leadership
  • Expertise in modern C# .Net Core; Python skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering best practices
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as OOP, Data Structures, Design Patterns, and Algorithms
  • Passion for collaboration and problem solving in complex, distributed systems
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement the logic behind core applications
  • Build APIs and microservices for data processing, business rules, and third-party integrations
  • Oversee the configuration and upkeep of secure, reliable server environments
  • Gather detailed requirements through meetings and workshops with internal teams and customers
  • Shape the product vision and roadmap by providing technical insight and feasibility guidance
  • Remain hands-on with architecture and design
  • Instill best practices in the team, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members
  • Collaboratively solve problems to help the team deliver high-quality software

As a Lead Software Developer, you will join our team in brand new Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis. Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 0900-1800, with some flexibility.
