Lead Software Developer

Summary

Lead the design and development of Thermo Fisher SampleManager solutions, customising workflows and integrations for regulated laboratory environments using C#, .NET, and SQL.

Salary: £140,500 - 140,500 per year

Requirements:
  • Proven experience with Thermo Fisher SampleManager (v12.1 and/or v21.3)
  • Strong development skills in VGL, C#, .NET Framework, and SQL
  • Experience configuring and customising SampleManager
  • Knowledge of REST/SOAP services, XML, and systems integration
  • Experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, and version control
  • Knowledge of laboratory processes and Laboratory Information Management Systems
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • SC Security Clearance is essential
  • Desirable: experience with SampleManager v21.3
  • Desirable: experience of LIMS upgrade or migration programmes
  • Desirable: knowledge of GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 17025, or GMP environments
  • Desirable: experience working in regulated laboratory settings
  • Desirable: public sector experience
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and support of Thermo Fisher SampleManager solutions
  • Develop and maintain custom functionality using VGL, C#, .NET, and SQL
  • Configure and enhance SampleManager workflows, forms, reports, and integrations
  • Design and support integrations with laboratory instruments and enterprise systems
  • Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting, and solution design expertise
  • Support testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing system improvements
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver effective solutions

We are seeking 2 experienced Lead Software Developers with strong Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) expertise to increase development capacity and provide specialist technical support for a major LIMS upgrade programme. The roles will work closely with our existing LIMS support, development, and delivery teams to design, develop, and support enhancements across the platform.
