I'm working with an innovative division of a major consultancy that's growing it’s engineering team again.
You'd be joining a 180-strong engineering function sitting at the intersection of AI and one of the industries generative AI is set to transform most: services. The platform supports over 2,500 tax and legal professionals and thousands of clients, delivering everything from routine automated advice to complex, high-stakes decisions.
They operate with the energy of a start-up ,small autonomous squads, fast iteration, real ownership ,backed by the scale of a global business.
The role
A hands-on Lead Software Engineer to lead a squad of software and QA engineers building products used by professionals and clients alike. You'll partner with a Product Owner who owns prioritisation, freeing you to focus on technical leadership and building world-class solutions. The role includes line management of around four developers.
What you'll bring
- Hands-on experience designing, specifying and building software end to end
- The ability to clearly articulate how generative AI can solve document management, workflow automation and knowledge management problems
- A track record of leading and mentoring engineers
- Strong experience in a modern object-oriented language (C# or Java)
- Deep knowledge of software design patterns, clean code and clean architecture
- Experience building REST APIs and working with messaging systems
- Confidence defining data models and working with databases
- Experience shipping user-facing web applications
- A collaborative, Agile mindset and a passion for best practice
What you'll be doing
- Working in a lean Agile team using a scaled Scrum framework
- Building back-end services in C#/ASP.NET Core, with front-end work in TypeScript/React, ASP.NET MVC or Blazor
- Building cloud-first applications with strong unit test coverage, continuous delivery and 100% infrastructure-as-code
- Containerising and deploying applications via Azure Kubernetes Service
- Working with Entity Framework code-first data against Azure SQL or NoSQL databases
- Designing resilient microservices integrated via a cloud message bus
- Upholding secure coding and infrastructure standards
- Levelling up your own skills and sharing knowledge across the team
- Building reusable components other teams can build on
