Lead Software Engineer - Financial Wellness
You will lead the backend architecture for the Gen Financial Wellness platform, powering Norton Money, Norton 360 and LifeLock. You'll own critical services end-to-end, set technical direction, and work across teams to deliver secure, reliable and compliant financial experiences at scale. You'll design REST APIs, champion event-driven architectures, drive reliability and performance efforts, partner with Security, Privacy and Legal teams, and mentor engineers while shaping the long-term technical roadmap.
Responsibilities

- Design and review REST APIs and data contracts between internal and external services and providers
- Champion event-driven architectures and telemetry pipelines for offers, leads, financial events and alerts
- Drive reliability and performance through SLOs, capacity planning, multi-AZ resilience, performance and endurance testing, and incident response
- Partner with Security, Privacy and Legal to ensure backend designs meet PII, credit-reporting and regulatory requirements
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews and help shape the long-term technical roadmap for Financial Wellness backends
Requirements
- Strong experience building backend services in Java (Spring Boot or similar) and operating them in production at scale
- Hands-on expertise with cloud-native architectures on AWS (ECS/EKS or Fargate, RDS/Aurora, VPC, load balancers, WAF, S3, Secrets Manager)
- Solid knowledge of relational databases (Postgres or equivalent) and at least one NoSQL store (e.g., DynamoDB, DocumentDB), including schema design and migrations
- Experience with event streaming/messaging (Kafka or similar) and event-driven system design
- A track record of owning architecture for a product/domain, influencing cross-team decisions and working directly with senior stakeholders
- Strong understanding of secure software design (authN/authZ, least privilege, PII handling, auditing) and comfort working with security/compliance reviews
- Background in financial services, financial wellness, embedded finance, banking or credit products, or identity-/privacy-focused platforms (nice to have)
- Experience with serverless (API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Redis) and/or integrating with AI platforms (e.g., Bedrock, Strands agents, AgentCore, tool-calling) (nice to have)
- Familiarity with observability stacks such as Datadog, Dynatrace or Sumo Logic, and defining SLOs and alerts (nice to have)
