Lead Software Engineer - FinTech Solutions

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing FinTech innovator based in Sandton, Gauteng, ZA , is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to spearhead the development of cutting-edge financial technology solutions. This critical role involves leading a team of talented engineers, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software. You will play a key part in shaping the future of our product offerings, working with modern technologies in a dynamic environment. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining collaborative on-site work in Sandton with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust and scalable software solutions within the FinTech domain.
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and technical specifications.
• Make key architectural decisions and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software systems.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in software engineering and FinTech.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior technical role.
• Proven experience in the FinTech industry or with financial systems development.
• Strong expertise in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or C++.
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and message queuing systems.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a technical team effectively.
• Experience working within a hybrid work model in the Sandton, Gauteng, ZA area is preferred.
