Role Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Consumer and Community Banking Technology Team, you will be an integral part of an agile team that builds and delivers trusted, market‑leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you will design, develop, and support critical technology solutions that support the firm’s business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of developers, providing coaching, code reviews, and career development to grow team capability and delivery outcomes.
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Develop secure, high‑quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading‑edge technologies.
  • Add to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI‑assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages: J2EE, Core Java (including Java 17 with annotations, enums, collections, streaming, multithreading, concurrency, regular expressions, functions).
  • Experience with Spring, including in‑depth knowledge of the Spring Framework for building SOAP/RESTful Web Services, MVC, and Spring Boot.
  • Strong AWS experience, architecting, deploying, and operating cloud‑native services (e.g., IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS, SQS, S3, RDS, ALB/NLB, Secrets Manager, ElastiCache).
  • Experience with build and integration tools, including knowledge of JIRA, Maven, Git, Jenkins, GitHub, and BitBucket.
  • Development using Agile methodology. Web security knowledge including OAuth2/ADFS, Kerberos, cross‑site scripting, and HTTP injection.
  • Hands‑on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In‑depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
  • Practical cloud‑native experience.
