Lead Software Engineer
Summary
Technical leadership role setting direction for scalable enterprise software while mentoring engineers and driving AI-assisted, agentic development practices. Hands-on across a C#/.NET and VB.NET stack on AWS with Kubernetes, Docker, Elasticsearch, Grafana and RDS, plus CI/CD, testing and observability.
- Set technical direction and lead the design, development and deployment of scalable software solutions across the organisation
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers
- Work with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders to understand business needs, define technical solutions, estimate work and prioritise development activities
- Drive high standards for code quality, security, performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability
- Review and challenge technical decisions and ensure alignment with architectural and engineering standards
- Troubleshoot complex technical problems, identify risks and drive continuous improvement
- Help teams adopt modern DevOps, CI/CD, testing and observability practices
- Explore and apply AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices
- Establish effective uses of AI for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, code review, analysis and developer workflows
- Ensure AI-generated solutions meet standards for security, quality, maintainability and reliability
- Contribute to the evolution of engineering practices and shape AI-enabled software development
Requirements
- Experienced software engineer and technical leader
- Strong track record of delivering complex enterprise applications
- Experience designing secure, scalable and maintainable solutions
- Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices across .NET, cloud platforms, containers, databases, CI/CD, testing and observability
- Experience with C#/.NET and VB.NET
- Knowledge of AWS, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kubernetes, Docker and RDS
- Comfortable moving between architecture, hands-on engineering and strategic technical discussions
- Ability to set technical direction and make sound technical decisions
- Ability to constructively challenge existing approachesExperience mentoring engineers
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
- Curiosity about AI, LLMs and agentic development
- Experience with AI coding assistants or AI-driven development workflows is a strong advantage
