CAI Software is organized into three business units - Graphic Communications, Process Manufacturing, and Discrete Manufacturing – aligned to the markets we serve. This role is part of our Graphic Communications business unit, which serves the global print and packaging industry with ERP and production software designed for commercial printers, packaging manufacturers, promotional and transactional print providers, sign and display manufacturers, and in-plant print operations. Our solutions help customers manage complex production environments, improve operational visibility, and deliver high-quality products efficiently and profitably.

About the Role

This role is part of CAI Software's Graphics Communications BU. The position is based in Bangalore with a hybrid work model (2 days per week in-office, remainder remote).

The Lead Software Engineer will serve as the technical owner and delivery lead for Print industry solutions and ERP-integrated platforms, ensuring business-critical workflows are architected, developed, and delivered reliably end to end. This role blends deep hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership, particularly within complex, legacy-heavy Print MIS and ERP environments.

You will work closely with product owners, architects, QA, and business stakeholders to translate print-specific requirements, ERP transactions, and fulfillment workflows into scalable technical solutions. In addition to leading development efforts, you will guide engineering standards, mentor team members, and drive technical decision-making to ensure long-term platform stability, performance, and evolution.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a technical lead within the engineering team, owning delivery and technical direction for ERP and Print MIS platforms
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of applications built using VB.Net, VB6, JavaScript, and HTML
  • Own and modernize legacy VB6 applications, driving refactoring, stabilization, and incremental modernization where applicable
  • Develop and maintain web-based interfaces and front-end components supporting Print MIS and ERP workflows
  • Design and implement solutions across order management, fulfillment, production tracking, and billing systems
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Drive best practices for code quality, maintainability, performance, and security
  • Conduct design and code reviews, providing technical guidance and ensuring engineering standards are met
  • Lead integration efforts between ERP systems, Print MIS platforms, fulfillment systems, and external partners
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, especially in legacy and integration-heavy environments
  • Plan, estimate, and deliver work across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Mentor and guide engineers, supporting skill development and technical growth
  • Present technical designs, delivery progress, and technical trade-offs to stakeholders and leadership
  • Support production systems, including troubleshooting complex fulfillment and operational issues

What We’re Looking For

  • 12+ Yrs of relevant experience (guideline).
  • .Net C# & VB.Net / Javascript/HTML with ERP/Print MIS development knowledge. Fulfillment experience would be great
  • Strong hands-on experience with VB.Net and VB6, including maintaining and enhancing legacy systems
  • Proficient in JavaScript and HTML for building and supporting web-based applications
  • Experienced in ERP development, with strong understanding of print workflows
  • Knowledgeable about fulfillment, order processing, shipping, and logistics workflows
  • Comfortable working with complex business logic and configuration-heavy systems
  • Experienced in leading teams, owning delivery, and making technical decisions
  • A strong communicator who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional and business teams
  • Analytical, pragmatic, and solution-oriented in approach
  • Self-driven, accountable, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments

We would welcome (but not required):

  • Experience modernizing legacy VB6 applications into newer technology stacks
  • Experience with ERP/Print MIS platforms such as EFI, Heidelberg, HP, Kodak, or similar
  • Exposure to ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Infor
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models
  • Experience working in global or distributed engineering organizations
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated build/deployment practices
