About the role

This position combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering responsibilities, encompassing SDK development, embedded software, firmware architecture, and cross-functional product integration for cutting-edge optical communication products in a deep-tech startup focused on next-generation semiconductor and photonics technologies for AI infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers responsible for SDK, firmware, and embedded software development.
  • Define software architecture, technical strategy, and development best practices.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software solutions for semiconductor and optical networking products.
  • Translate product and customer requirements into robust software features and system capabilities.
  • Ensure software solutions meet performance, reliability, scalability, security, and quality objectives.
  • Participate directly in software design, coding, debugging, integration, testing, and issue resolution for critical components.
  • Work closely with hardware, ASIC, RTL, validation, applications, and systems engineering teams throughout product development cycles.
  • Develop APIs, software utilities, diagnostic tools, and supporting applications.
  • Conduct code reviews and establish coding standards, development methodologies, and engineering processes.
  • Manage project planning, resource allocation, technical risks, and delivery timelines.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded C/C++ software development.
  • Must have experience with optical communications, optical networking equipment, or Optical DSP technologies.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor, ASIC, FPGA, or silicon-based product development.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, embedded systems, and firmware development.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
  • Extensive experience developing embedded software and firmware solutions.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, coding standards, debugging methodologies, and documentation practices.
  • Ability to independently deliver complex software components from design through validation and deployment.
  • Proven experience coordinating cross-functional development efforts and leading software projects.
