Lead the design and integration of secure, future-proof network architectures for naval mission systems, aligning with defence strategies and ensuring interoperability across platforms.

Lead Solution Architect – Hybrid Navy Connectivity

Are you a Communications and C2 systems specialist who is passionate about shaping future solutions for the Armed Forces? Looking for a role that is pivotal to an exciting area of future growth for the business, involving working across the BAE Systems’ Sectors including international teams?

We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Solution Architect – Hybrid Navy Connectivity.

As Lead Solution Architect – Hybrid Navy Connectivity you will provide technical leadership in the design, integration, and assurance of mission-critical network and data communication architectures necessary to deliver disaggregated force-level combat effect.

In collaboration with both the RN customer and across BAE Systems business units as well as future (still to be defined) enterprise partners, the post holder acts as a key authority for network-centric system architectural design across platforms and programmes, influencing strategic direction and enabling effective delivery of capability at pace.

This role ensures that mission system architectures and candidate design solutions are timely, product-coherent, future‑proof, cyber‑resilient, robust, secure, interoperable and aligned with operational, safety, and regulatory requirements as well as enterprise technical and business strategies.

In maintaining a pan-BAE Systems view of emerging technologies and products, the role will both help crystalise BAE Systems’ leadership of the Defence Enterprise response to emergent Hybrid Navy strategy and set the conditions for future export success through development of coherent, scalable, and future-ready, platform agnostic, force-enabled mission systems.

Your main responsibilities as Lead Solution Architect – Hybrid Navy Connectivity\:

  • Influence the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap for Hybrid Navy mission systems relating to Network & Data Communications.
  • Operate to align with, and enable, the achievement of the NS Combat Systems, Maritime and Digital Intelligence Hybrid Navy Strategies.
  • Own and maintain coherent, platform agnostic, modular, scale-able and future‑ready architectures.
  • Collaborate with customers, programmes and suppliers to ensure alignment and delivery of high‑integrity solutions.
  • Maintain close alignment to and influence of Hybrid Navy ‘branded’ programmes and products, including INTeACT CMS, Maritime Fighting Web et al.

Your skills and qualifications\:

· Degree qualified in an Engineering related discipline

· Chartered Engineer

· Extensive experience in force-level system-of-systems architectures, or complex maritime/defence integration.

· Deep knowledge of defence operational networks, comms, and cloud-based data architectures.

· Strong background in data, architectural frameworks and digital engineering methods.

· Experience of Modaf, Archimate, SYSML, VIPER

Location\: Frimley, Portsmouth or Christchurch as contractual location. 2 to 3 days required on site at Christchurch, which may include some travel to other BAE Systems locations.
