Lead Solution Architect

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Solution Architect to provide strategic technical leadership within a complex enterprise environment. You will lead a team of Solution Architects, drive architecture governance and assurance activities, and oversee the delivery of secure, scalable and business-aligned technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Solution Architects

• Provide architectural direction and quality assurance across solution design activities

• Oversee the design and assurance of end-to-end technology solutions

• Translate business and technical requirements into practical solution architectures

• Develop solution designs, architecture diagrams, Architecture Decision Records, decision papers and governance documentation

• Provide architecture governance and delivery oversight

• Contribute to enterprise architecture roadmaps and future-state planning

• Evaluate emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, and their application within an enterprise environment

About you

• Minimum five years' experience in software, solution or systems architecture within a government or regulated environment

• At least three years' experience leading solution architecture teams or practices

• Demonstrated experience leading architecture teams, mentoring architects, assuring architecture deliverables and driving architecture capability uplift

• Experience working in scaled agile environments, including Program Increment Planning, feature assessment, architecture scrum events and work prioritisation

• Strong knowledge of architecture governance, technology evaluation and technical risk frameworks such as TOGAF or SABSA

• Experience integrating emerging technologies, including AI, into existing enterprise architecture and technology ecosystems

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience supporting delivery teams to prepare Architecture Decision Records and architectural decision papers

• Microsoft technology experience

  Candidates should have experience designing and governing solutions using:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365

  • Power Platform

  • Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures

  • Power BI

  • .NET Core

• Applicants must be Australian citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.

Highly Desirable

• Experience within SAFe or other scaled agile environments

• Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise solutions

• Strong architecture governance and assurance experience

• Experience preparing Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and architectural decision papers

• Relevant professional certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Dynamics 365, Power Platform or other Microsoft certifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline

• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks (PSPF, ISM), privacy, digital, records management and responsible AI requirements
