Lead Supply Technician

This position serves as the Lead Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System in Portland, OR. As a Lead Supply Technician, you will ensure supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities.

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload Monitors status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities Estimates and reports on expected time of completion of work Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices Maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, or other guidelines as necessary and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems Checks on work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review Reviews completed work to see that supervisor instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met Monitors working conditions Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor Reports to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems or issues Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates Ensures critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled, resolving deviations when possible, and escalating significant deviations to the Inventory Management Specialists Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems Delivers supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring that supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition Completes specialty cart preparation and stocking Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards Supports wall-to-wall inventories Performs other duties as assigned Work may require the operation of a government owned motor vehicle Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm (PST) Position Description/PD#: Lead Supply Technician/PD99833S Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized
