This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Learning Design Lead based in the United States.
This is a senior individual contributor role focused on building scalable learning solutions for technical and professional capabilities.
You’ll diagnose workforce skill gaps, translate complex technical needs into practical learning experiences, and connect development initiatives to business priorities.
Working closely with technology leaders and subject matter experts, you’ll influence stakeholders and guide projects from discovery through implementation.
The role spans instructional design, performance consulting, learning technology, measurement, and workforce capability development.
You’ll work across formats including instructor-led training, virtual learning, eLearning, microlearning, and performance support.
You’ll also leverage AI-enabled tools to improve learning design, personalization, content development, and operational efficiency while maintaining appropriate human oversight.

Accountabilities
- Diagnose learning, performance, and workforce capability needs by identifying skill gaps, target behaviors, and business priorities.
- Design and deliver learner-centered experiences across instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, microlearning, job-aid, performance-support, and blended formats.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, relevant learning experiences by partnering with subject matter experts and technology leaders.
- Lead learning initiatives from discovery and solution design through implementation, deployment, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Apply performance consulting and instructional design principles to determine when learning or non-learning interventions are most appropriate.
- Build strong partnerships with technical leaders, SMEs, instructional designers, and cross-functional stakeholders while influencing without direct authority.
- Establish learning success measures and evaluate effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, behavior indicators, performance data, and relevant business outcomes.
- Configure, test, maintain, and support learning assets within an LMS or comparable learning platform, including deployment, tracking, access, and reporting.
- Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, content creation, personalization, workflow efficiency, and quality review while applying appropriate governance and human validation.
- Contribute to the technical skilling roadmap and help prioritize learning initiatives according to evolving workforce and technology needs.
- Consult with stakeholders on incoming learning requests and recommend solutions aligned with organizational capabilities and strategic priorities.
- Communicate project progress, risks, decisions, insights, and outcomes clearly to leaders and other stakeholders.
- Independently manage priorities, solve moderately complex to complex problems, and advance initiatives with limited direction.
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, learning technology, business, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience designing and delivering end-to-end learning solutions for technical audiences and/or strategic workforce development.
- 8+ years of experience selecting and applying appropriate learning methodologies based on learner needs and desired business outcomes.
- 5+ years of experience defining learning success measures and evaluating effectiveness through feedback, assessments, behavior change, performance data, and business results.
- 5+ years of experience applying instructional design, learning experience design, or performance consulting in a corporate, technical, or comparable environment.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE and SAM.
- Experience creating and editing multimedia and eLearning content using tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable platforms.
- Experience administering or managing courses through Cornerstone OnDemand or a similar learning management system.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into accessible, role-relevant learning experiences.
- Excellent stakeholder consultation, communication, project planning, prioritization, and influencing skills, including the ability to work effectively without direct authority.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in instructional design, education, learning technology, adult education, workforce development, organizational development, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Experience using GenAI or AI-enabled tools such as Copilot, Gemini, Synthesia, or Articulate to support learning design and productivity.
- Preferred: Experience with project management platforms such as Microsoft Planner, JIRA Align, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Preferred: Certification in instructional design, learning methodologies, or professional development frameworks such as ATD, CPTD, or Kirkpatrick.
- Preferred: Experience designing and delivering learning solutions within IT, technology, or other technical environments.
- Candidates must be able to work within Eastern Standard Time (EST) or Central Standard Time (CST).
- Annual salary range of $94,900–$130,500, with actual compensation determined by factors including location, skills, experience, education, and other job-related qualifications.
