Summary
Learning Designer/Instructional Designer who transforms complex information into engaging learning content, developing course structures, storyboards, and assessments while collaborating with subject matter experts and multimedia teams. Core technologies include instructional design principles, LMS/SCORM, and tools like Articulate Storyline.
About the Role
Veev Digital Works is looking for a Learning Designer / Instructional Designer who enjoys turning complex information into learning that is clear, engaging and meaningful.
You will work on a variety of learning projects across different industries and subject areas, collaborating with subject matter experts, clients, project managers, multimedia designers and developers to bring learning experiences from concept to completion.
We are looking for someone who can think from the learner’s perspective, make sense of content, structure it well and find creative ways to help people learn.
What You Will Do
- Analyse source materials, learner needs and project requirements to determine the most appropriate learning approach
- Develop learning objectives, course structures and learning journeys
- Transform complex or content-heavy materials into clear, engaging and learner-friendly content
- Develop storyboards, scripts, scenarios, learning activities and assessments
- Apply adult learning principles and appropriate instructional design approaches
- Design interactions and activities that encourage learners to think, practise, apply and reflect
- Work closely with subject matter experts to understand, clarify and structure content
- Collaborate with multimedia designers and developers to turn learning concepts into engaging digital experiences
- Provide creative direction for graphics, animation, video and interactive elements where appropriate
- Review developed learning materials for instructional quality, accuracy, consistency and learner experience
- Incorporate client and stakeholder feedback into the learning design
- Manage deliverables across multiple projects and timelines
- Contribute ideas and explore better ways of designing and delivering learning
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in learning design, instructional design, curriculum development, training content development, education or a related field
- Strong ability to analyse, organise and simplify complex information
- Good understanding of how adults learn and how to translate that into effective learning experiences
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to develop clear and engaging storyboards, scripts, activities or learning materials
- A good eye for how content can be presented visually and interactively
- A balance of structured thinking and creativity
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, subject matter experts and project teams
- Ability to manage priorities and work on multiple projects
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools, technologies and approaches
A Diploma or Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Education, Educational Technology, Communications or a related discipline would be useful, but we are also open to candidates from other backgrounds who can demonstrate strong learning design capabilities.
These Would Be a Plus — But Are Not Required
Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:
- Articulate Storyline or Rise
- E-learning or digital learning development
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) and SCORM
- Scenario-based or interactive learning
- Video or animation scripting
- Multimedia content development
- Gamification
- AI tools for learning, content or creative development
You do not need experience with all of the above to apply.
We are more interested in your ability to understand learners, structure content intelligently and design an effective learning experience than whether you already know a particular piece of software.
You May Be a Great Fit If You...
- Are naturally curious and enjoy learning about new subjects
- Look at a large amount of content and immediately start thinking about how to make it clearer
- Ask, “What does the learner actually need to know or be able to do?”
- Enjoy turning information into a logical and engaging learning journey
- Like writing, storytelling and creating scenarios
- Think beyond simply putting information onto slides
- Care about both the big picture and the small details
- Enjoy working with creative and technical teams
- Are receptive to feedback and comfortable refining your work
- Are interested in how technology and AI are changing the way people learn
- Want to continue developing your craft as a learning designer
