Lease Compression Technician II

If you’re an experience compression technician who can walk onto a customer site, assess equipment, troubleshoot an issue, and get the job done, this is an opportunity to put that experience to work!

As a Lease Compression Technician II, you will take ownership of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting repairs, and equipment performance across natural gas compression packages. You will work independently in the field while serving as a trusted technical resource.

This role is ideal for a technician who has built a foundation in natural gas compression and is ready to take on greater technical responsibility. You will have the opportunity to work across engines and compressors, perform repairs in both the field and shop, monitor equipment performance, and provide customers with clear recommendations.

With roots dating to 1833 and a portfolio of iconic OEM brands — Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, Superior™ and more — Cooper supports over 22,000 units in the field globally. This is your opportunity to lead a key chapter of that story.

What You Will Do

  • Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve moderate equipment issues on natural gas compressor packages at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and equipment inspections on engines and compressors in both field and shop environments.
  • Monitor compressor performance and generate reports to verify assigned units operating at optimum levels.
  • Assist with frame and engine swings and other maintenance activities as required.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for customers, communicating equipment condition, maintenance performed, and recommended next steps.
  • Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and repair documentation while communicating equipment status and issues to customers and internal team members.
  • Work independently and safely in the field, managing assigned work with minimal supervision while representing Cooper professionally at every customer interaction.

Who You Are

  • 2-4 years of direct, hands-on experience working on natural gas compression equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar, Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, Superior, or similar compression/engine systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing engines and compressors.
  • Ability to work independently at customer sites without direct supervision.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and representing Cooper professionally on every visit.
  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to travel to assigned field locations and work extended hours, if needed.

Preferred

  • CDL-A with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements.
  • Experience performing frame and engine swings.
  • Additional experience working across multiple natural gas compression platforms.
