Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The School of Education and Social Practice within Te Pūtahi Mātauranga | Faculty of Arts and Education is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Sport, Health and Physical Education to join our collegial academic team.

This is an opportunity to contribute to teaching, research and service across the discipline, including the education of future teachers. You will contribute to the delivery and development of our programmes, supervise postgraduate students and develop an active programme of research, while building collaborative relationships across the School, Faculty and wider community.

We are particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and research expertise will complement the School's existing strengths in areas such as anatomy, exercise physiology, Health and Physical Education curriculum, games education or sport pedagogy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering high-quality teaching, contributing to curriculum development and supervising postgraduate students.
• Developing and maintaining an active programme of research, including scholarly publications, research collaborations and external funding opportunities.
• Building collaborative relationships across the School, Faculty and wider community to support teaching, research and service.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position (subject to continuation).

The workload split is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service.

The salary range for this role is $99,788 - $119,204 per annum.

Remuneration depends on experience and achievements, and is aligned with our Academic Standards policy.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A PhD in Sport, Health or Physical Education.
• Experience teaching Sport, Health and Physical Education at the tertiary level.
• A developing or established research profile, with high-quality research outputs and the potential to contribute to collaborative research and external funding.
• Experience applying socially critical, inclusive and culturally responsive approaches within teaching, research or professional practice.
• Strong communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
