Legacy Law Associate Attorney/Asheville, NC

At King Law Offices, we believe Legacy Law is more than documents—it’s about people, purpose, and preserving what matters.

We are seeking a Legacy Law Attorney to join our team in Asheville or Waynesville. This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to practice law in a way that is both technically strong and deeply human—guiding clients through decisions that shape their families, businesses, and long-term impact.

What We Do

Legacy Law focuses on helping individuals and families plan for the transfer of their assets, values, and responsibilities across generations.

Our work includes:

  • Estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorney)
  • Trust design and implementation
  • Asset protection and long-term care planning
  • Business succession planning
  • Estate, probate, and trust administration
  • Beneficiary representation and dispute resolution
  • Charitable and legacy-focused planning
  • Incompetency and Guardianship
  • Caregiver Agreements
  • Medicaid Asset planning and application
  • Adoptions

This is often a client’s legacy—and we treat it that way.

What You’ll Do

  • Meet with clients to understand their family dynamics, goals, and concerns
  • Design and implement customized estate and legacy plans
  • Draft wills, trusts, and related planning documents
  • Advise on asset protection and eligibility planning strategies
  • Guide clients through probate and trust administration
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, CPAs, and other professionals
  • Build long-term relationships with clients as a trusted advisor
  • Attend court for incompetency and guardianship proceedings
  • Represent clients in will contests (caveats) and beneficiary advocacy

Who You Are

  • Licensed attorney in North Carolina or South Carolina (or ability to become licensed quickly)
  • Experience in estate planning, elder law, or related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills—comfortable guiding sensitive conversations
  • Detail-oriented with sound legal judgment
  • Able to balance empathy with efficiency
  • Growth-minded: committed to learning and refining your craft

Why This Role is Different

This is not a volume-driven, transactional practice.

You will:

  • Have meaningful client interactions
  • Help families make some of the most important decisions of their lives
  • Practice in a way that values relationships over transactions
  • Be part of a team that prioritizes both professional excellence and human impact

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary + performance incentives
  • Eligibility for other firm perks
  • Professional development support
  • Team-oriented, collaborative environment

How to Apply

If you are looking for a practice area where your work has lasting impact—and where how you practice matters as much as what you produce—we would welcome your application.
