Legal Affairs Manager

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in the development of the department’s strategy and goals, as well as establish and drive the execution of initiatives and plans to meet them
  • Determine the financial and staff requirements during the annual budgeting exercise, advocating for optimal resource allocation based on priorities
  • Monitor the operational performance of the section, compare them to the established objectives and goals, whilst establishing periodic reports and reporting on them to superiors
  • Manage day-to-day activities and operations
  • Refine and ensure proper documentation and implementation of all policies and procedures for the concerned section
  • Monitor subordinates’ performance and provide formal and informal feedback and counseling in order to maximize efficiency
Functional Responsibilities
  • Manage the legal affairs for Dan Co. and provide local and international law advisory
  • Manage the development of contract templates covering Dan Co.’s key activities, including corporate contracts, development contracts (PMC, design, contracting) and operational contracts (HMAs, franchising), ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations and leading practices
  • Review major contracts for the entire company (e.g., major purchasing agreements, project agreements, hotel management agreements, credit agreements, etc.)
  • Monitor changes to governmental laws and regulations affecting Dan Co., identifying and communicating their potential impact and how best to handle them
  • Review and handle all local claims and legal disputes made against Dan Co. in judicial and semi-juridical systems
  • Represent and manage representation of the Dan Co. representation before judicial bodies, committees and governmental authorities
  • Review and recommend claim settlements to management on non-project transactions
  • Lead the registration, evaluation, and validation for all received allegations or claims from external or internal entities
  • Lead support efforts for the Board, or other internal departments as needed, to draft rules and regulations
  • Provide lawsuit legal representation and advisory
  • Conduct legal research and develop recommendations regarding the adoption of best practices regarding business decisions and operations
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent / similar qualification
Experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in law or a similar field, with ideally 2-3 years in the real estate or hospitality sector
Other Skills and Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of Saudi laws and regulations and legal and compliance practices, particularly in the real estate, construction and hospitality sector
  • Fluent in English, Arabic proficiency strongly preferred
