What You’ll Be Doing

You are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable supporting a busy litigation practice. You enjoy contributing to high-quality work while providing outstanding support to lawyers, clients, and colleagues. This role is 100% on site.

Daily responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • setting court dates and communicating with court registries;
  • arranging court filings and assisting with applications and other litigation-related procedures;
  • preparing, drafting, editing, and formatting correspondence, court pleadings, and other legal documents;
  • coordinating service and filing of court documents in accordance with applicable deadlines and procedures;
  • maintaining efficient file management and bring-forward systems;
  • maintaining calendars, managing email, and assisting lawyers with the day-to-day management of their practices;
  • monitoring and coordinating litigation deadlines, court dates, discoveries, mediations, and other key dates;
  • liaising with legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers, clients, courts, and other external parties regarding file progress; and
  • performing general administrative duties as required

We recognize that experience can come in different forms. If this opportunity interests you but you don’t meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

How You’ll Be a Great Fit for This Role

We’re looking for someone who brings both skills and mindset:

  • graduate of an accredited legal assistant program or equivalent relevant experience;
  • a minimum of 1 year of experience as a legal assistant, with experience supporting a litigation practice;
  • familiarity with litigation procedures, court filings, and applicable court rules and deadlines;
  • strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and BC Online;
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing deadlines;
  • a client-centered approach with a commitment to providing outstanding service;
  • the ability to follow instructions and work effectively within strict deadlines;
  • a proactive and collaborative approach to supporting lawyers and colleagues;
  • dedicated to providing service beyond expectation; and
  • the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality and adapt to changing demands.

In addition to a competitive salary of $55,000 – $75,000, we provide a comprehensive benefits package to help you thrive at work and at home:
