Legal Counsel - Contract Management & Legal Operations
You will manage the full contract lifecycle from creation and review through execution renewal termination and record management. You will design legal processes maintain governance standards support regulatory projects assess legal risks and improve service delivery through automation. You will also oversee electronic document execution assist with AML and KYC checks update contract templates and provide proactive advice on legal issues.
Responsibilities
- Manage the contract lifecycle including creation review execution renewal termination and record management
- Design implement and maintain legal processes and standard operating procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process redesign and automation
- Maintain contract repositories and governance standards
- Coordinate legal and regulatory transformation projects
- Research assess and advise on legal risks
- Oversee document execution using electronic signature tools
- Assist with AML and KYC checks when required
- Update and maintain standard internal contract templates
- Track legal issues and provide proactive advice on potential solutions
- Streamline legal processes using technology
- Perform other tasks as required
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited institution
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel
- Strong understanding of commercial contract drafting and commercial law
- Experience in drafting reviewing negotiating and managing commercial contracts
- Knowledge of data protection legislation and legal compliance
- Ability to build legal infrastructure in a growing organization
- Fluency in English
- Ability to manage projects and tasks through successful completion
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- A legal practicing warrant is considered an asset but is not essential
- Knowledge of AML and KYC standards is considered an asset but is not essential
