DHL Legal Services offers all business partners worldwide solution-oriented legal advice. We provide comprehensive support in contracts, negotiations, and processes with customers and suppliers as well as in general litigation and commercial law matters.

In a matrix organization, Legal Services is organized on the one hand according to regions and on the other hand according to global cross-sectional topics.

Job Purpose

As a Legal Counsel, you will provide practical and commercially focused legal advice to support the business across a wide range of operational and commercial matters. You will help identify and mitigate legal risks, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and protect the organization’s legal and business interests.

Working closely with business stakeholders, you will draft and negotiate contracts, provide legal guidance on day-to-day business activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes and procedures in line with business objectives.

Key Tasks

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to business leaders on operational, commercial and regulatory matters.
  • Support business functions by ensuring current and proposed activities, policies and practices comply with applicable laws and internal standards.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documentation, including customer, supplier, procurement, employment and operational agreements.
  • Analyze and interpret legislation, case law and regulatory developments, advising the business on their potential impact.
  • Prepare legal reports and recommendations to support business decision-making.
  • Review public communications and statements from a legal perspective to identify and mitigate legal risks.
  • Support the organization in legal proceedings and coordinate with external legal counsel where required.
  • Prepare documentation and case materials for external legal advisers and assist with the management of disputes and claims.
  • Contribute to legal research, contract administration, legal records management and intellectual property matters.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of legal processes and best practices across the business.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification obtained in Hungary
  • Qualified lawyer with admission to the Bar (or equivalent professional legal qualification).
  • More than 3 years of post-qualification legal experience gained within a commercial law firm and/or an in-house legal department.
  • Professional fluency in Hungarian and excellent command of English, both written and verbal
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Good understanding of commercial law and legal risk management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical way.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with business stakeholders and provide commercially focused legal advice.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in continuous learning and staying up to date with legal and regulatory developments.
