You will provide guidance and support to ensure managers are making reasonable and informed decisions regarding legal risks; manage the legal strategy with outside counsel, including spending without compromising financial and reputational risk; and provide in-house and external legal expertise to address the increasingly complex legal environment by partnering with business units, regions and global stakeholders to identify and advise on applicable laws and regulatory changes for a given country and/or across multiple countries.

What you will bring

A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career with experience and knowledge in:

  • Legal experience, ideally in a large matrixed multinational company
  • Strong analytical, strategic vision, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience assessing, advising on risk, advising/coaching and dispute resolution in a multinational company
  • Highest level of integrity and trust; highly credible and willing to express
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resourcefulness, including relevant new technologies and systems
  • License to practice law in relevant jurisdiction(s)

We are looking for an outstanding Legal Counsel to join the Mondelēz International Iberia Legal team.

This is not a narrow specialist role. We are looking for a commercially minded and pragmatic lawyer who wants to be close to the business, understands how a multinational company operates and enjoys being involved in a broad range of sophisticated legal and compliance matters.

You will act as a trusted legal business partner to key functions across Iberia, including Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Logistics and E-commerce, while also playing an important role in our Compliance programme.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical legal skills with excellent judgement, business acumen and the ability to turn complex legal issues into clear, practical and actionable advice.

You will report to the Legal Director Iberia and work closely with senior business leaders as well as regional and global Legal and Compliance teams.

What you will do

You will provide strategic and day-to-day legal advice across the Iberia business, helping Mondelēz achieve its commercial priorities while protecting the company, its people, brands, assets and reputation.

Commercial & Sales:

We are looking for someone who understands that excellent in-house legal advice is not simply about identifying risk, but about helping the business find the right way forward.

You will partner closely with our Sales teams on a broad range of strategic and day-to-day commercial matters, including:

  • Commercial agreements and complex contract negotiations.
  • Customer and distribution arrangements.
  • Sales strategies, commercial policies and promotions.
  • Spanish and EU Competition Law, including antitrust issues arising from commercial negotiations, pricing, distribution and customer relationships.
  • Commercial disputes and risk management.
  • Advice on new business models and commercial initiatives.

Marketing, Advertising & Brands

You will help our teams develop creative and ambitious campaigns while ensuring that our brands operate within the appropriate legal and regulatory framework.

You will work closely with our Marketing teams and support Mondelēz's portfolio of brands in Iberia, advising on:

  • Advertising and marketing campaigns.
  • Product and advertising claims.
  • Promotions, activations and sponsorships.
  • Digital marketing, social media and influencers.
  • Consumer protection.
  • Unfair competition.
  • Brand positioning and reputational considerations.
  • E-commerce and emerging marketing channels.
  • Food law, labelling and consumer information, where relevant.

Compliance & Investigations

Compliance will be an important part of this role.

We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who genuinely enjoy Compliance work and understand that it is an integral part of being an in-house lawyer.

You should be comfortable dealing with sensitive and confidential matters and have the judgement and integrity required to handle complex situations independently.

You will:

  • Participate in the review and assessment of the company's Compliance risk matrices.
  • Identify, assess and help mitigate legal and compliance risks.
  • Support and, where appropriate, participate in internal investigations, from the initial assessment of allegations through fact-finding, legal analysis, recommendations and resolution.
  • Advise on internal policies, controls and remediation measures.
  • Support the implementation of global and regional Compliance programmes in Iberia.
  • Deliver and support training on key Legal and Compliance topics.
  • Help promote a strong culture of integrity and ethical decision-making across the organisation.

Manufacturing

Mondelēz has a significant manufacturing footprint in Iberia.

You will provide legal support to our manufacturing sites and factory teams, advising on the legal issues arising from their operations, projects and relationships with third parties.

This may include strategic projects, contracts, suppliers, operational incidents, regulatory matters, disputes and other legal issues affecting our factories.

We are looking for someone who enjoys getting close to operations, understanding how things actually work and providing practical solutions rather than purely theoretical legal advice.

Supply Chain & Logistics

You will advise our Supply Chain and Logistics teams on matters including:

  • Logistics and transportation agreements.
  • Warehousing and distribution.
  • Procurement and supplier arrangements.
  • Supply chain projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Operational incidents and claims.
  • Contractual and regulatory risks affecting the movement and distribution of our products.

Data Privacy & Digital

You will work closely with relevant specialist and regional/global teams whenever required.

You will advise the business on data protection and privacy matters, including issues arising from:

  • Marketing and consumer initiatives.
  • Digital projects and technologies.
  • Data processing arrangements.
  • Third-party providers.
  • E-commerce and digital platforms.

Consumer & Regulatory

You will advise on Spanish and European legislation affecting consumers and our products, including:

  • Consumer protection.
  • Advertising and commercial practices.
  • Product information.
  • Promotions and consumer-facing initiatives.

Risk Management & Strategic Advice

As a member of the Legal team, you will also:

  • Identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and translate them into practical recommendations for the business.
  • Provide clear and balanced risk assessments to enable informed business decisions.
  • Manage complex legal matters and disputes.
  • Manage external counsel strategically and efficiently.
  • Contribute to Iberia, European and global Legal projects.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and become a trusted adviser to the business.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced lawyer who combines technical excellence with strong commercial judgement.

You will ideally bring:

  • Approximately 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience, gained in a leading law firm, a sophisticated multinational in-house environment, or a combination of both.
  • Qualification to practise law in Spain.
  • Strong experience in Commercial and Contract Law.
  • Solid knowledge of Spanish and EU Competition Law.
  • Experience advising Sales and commercial teams.
  • Strong exposure to Marketing, Advertising, Consumer Protection and Unfair Competition matters.
  • Experience or a genuine and demonstrable interest in Compliance, risk assessment and internal investigations.
  • Working knowledge of Data Protection and Privacy.
  • Experience supporting Supply Chain, Manufacturing or other operational functions would be highly valued.
  • Experience in FMCG, food, consumer products or retail would be a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of food law and food labelling would also be valued.
  • Fluent Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Portuguese would be an advantage.

The person we are looking for:

Technical expertise matters, but for this role how you operate is equally important.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is genuinely business-oriented and pragmatic.
  • Has excellent judgement and knows how to distinguish between theoretical legal risk and material business risk.
  • Is intellectually curious and wants to understand the business behind the legal question.
  • Is comfortable making recommendations and taking ownership.
  • Can operate autonomously while knowing when to escalate.
  • Can manage several complex matters simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
  • Communicates complex legal concepts simply and persuasively.
  • Builds credibility quickly with senior business stakeholders.
  • Is comfortable challenging constructively and speaking up when necessary.
  • Has the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively in an international environment.
  • Is approachable, solutions-focused and someone business teams actively want to involve early in their projects.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to join the Legal team of one of the world's leading snacking companies in a role with genuine breadth, visibility and business exposure.

You will work alongside Sales teams, marketers and some of our best-known brands, manufacturing sites, Supply Chain teams and senior leadership, while being connected to a sophisticated international Legal and Compliance organisation.

You will not simply review contracts or answer legal questions.

You will be expected to understand the business, influence decisions, anticipate risk and help shape solutions.

For the right lawyer, this is an opportunity to develop as a truly rounded in-house counsel in a complex, international and fast-moving FMCG environment
