Our client is a leading global venture capital firm headquartered in Seoul with a multi-decade track record and a portfolio spanning Korea, Asia, and beyond. Backed by a strong global network and managing multiple funds across stages and geographies, the firm invests in high-growth technology companies and works closely with domestic and international LPs. As the firm continues to expand its cross-border fund activity, the regulatory and compliance environment surrounding venture capital, fund formation, and investor obligations has grown increasingly complex. The Legal & Compliance team plays a central role in enabling the firm's investment activity while safeguarding its regulatory standing. The firm is seeking a Legal Counsel to join the Legal & Compliance team, with a significant emphasis on compliance, regulatory response, and internal controls, alongside transactional legal support across the fund lifecycle. This role offers direct exposure to global fund structures, cross-border regulatory matters, and the full spectrum of VC legal work at one of Asia's most established venture platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support compliance operations across the firm, including regulatory monitoring, internal control frameworks, and policy development
• Manage responses to domestic and overseas regulators and supervisory authorities, including inquiries, reporting obligations, and examinations
• Oversee anti-money laundering (AML), KYC, and related compliance programs across funds and investor onboarding Support domestic and international fund formation, including fund structure review, negotiation with LPs, and closing procedures
• Draft and review contracts, fund documents, and internal regulations across Korean and international matters
• Provide legal review of relevant laws and regulations and respond to internal legal inquiries from investment and operations teams
• Support portfolio exits and manage dispute-related matters as needed
• Design and deliver internal compliance and legal training programs
• Handle legal administration and other matters related to internal control and governance

Key Qualifications

• Qualified attorney admitted to practice in the Republic of Korea (Preferred)
• 1 to 6 years of post-qualification legal experience
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to handle cross-border documentation and correspondence
• Strong interest in or exposure to financial regulation, compliance, and internal control frameworks Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent matters and communicate effectively with investment professionals and external counterparties
• Prior compliance experience within VC, PE, 신기사, or other financial institutions (Preferred)
• Experience in fund formation or fund-related regulatory work (Preferred)
• Familiarity with AML/KYC frameworks and regulatory reporting (Preferred)
