Company Overview

Regent is a privately held global holding company headquartered in Beverly Hills, California, with offices in New York, London and Munich. Regent owns and invests in more than 50 businesses across the luxury, fashion, beauty, consumer, media, technology, industrial and automotive sectors, taking a long-term approach to building and transforming businesses across its global portfolio.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Legal Counsel, Restructuring to lead the legal workstream behind Regent's post-acquisition restructuring efforts across its global portfolio. This is an in-house role for an attorney who wants to move from law firm practice into a hands-on, business-facing seat, focused squarely on stabilizing and restructuring Regent’s recently acquired businesses.

The ideal candidate has trained at a top law firm, with a background in restructuring, bankruptcy, or insolvency, and is looking to apply that experience directly to operating businesses across multiple jurisdictions. This role works in close partnership with portfolio company management, Regent's operations teams, and local outside counsel around the world, and reports to firm leadership.

This is a full-time role, based 5 days a week in our Beverly Hills office.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead in-house counsel on restructuring matters for portfolio companies following acquisition, across Regent's global footprint
  • Advise portfolio company management teams on restructuring-related legal matters, including out-of-court workouts, creditor negotiations, and formal insolvency or reorganization proceedings where applicable
  • Manage cross-border restructuring matters, coordinating local insolvency, labor, and commercial law requirements across the jurisdictions in which portfolio companies operate
  • Coordinate and manage local and specialist outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions and workstreams, ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of external legal resources
  • Partner with portfolio company operators and Regent's internal teams to resolve contract disputes, vendor and landlord negotiations, and other legal matters arising from operational turnarounds
  • Support negotiations with creditors, lenders, landlords, and other counterparties as part of portfolio company stabilization efforts
  • Advise on legal aspects of workforce restructurings, facility closures, and other operational changes undertaken as part of a turnaround
  • Track legal matters and open issues across the portfolio, providing regular reporting and risk flags to firm leadership
  • Support the negotiation and documentation of restructuring-related agreements, including amended financing, lease, vendor, and employment arrangements

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of relevant legal experience, with a background in restructuring, bankruptcy, or insolvency
  • JD required; prior experience at a top-tier law firm strongly preferred
  • Direct experience with workouts, reorganizations, or insolvency proceedings (in-court or out-of-court)
  • Comfort advising on cross-border or multi-jurisdictional matters; prior exposure to non-U.S. restructuring or insolvency regimes is a plus
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple restructuring matters concurrently
  • Ability to translate legal risk into clear, practical guidance for business stakeholders and firm leadership
  • Comfortable working directly with, and presenting to, firm leadership and the Chairman
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and sound judgment; comfortable operating with significant autonomy
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced, lean environment
  • Active member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar

Compensation: $175,000-$225,000 (range dependent on experience) + bonus

This position will be based at Regent's headquarters in Beverly Hills, California. Please include salary expectations with your resume.
