Legal Manager
NewBe an early applicantAt Parallel, we build AI agents to help healthcare facilities automate their administrative processes and unlock additional revenue, starting with medical coding.
Today, up to 25% of healthcare spending is lost in manual, repetitive administrative work. Legacy software hasn’t helped, it’s made things slower, more complex, and more frustrating for care teams.
We believe AI agents can change that. Our technology combines Large Language Models with system-level automation to handle real work inside existing hospital tools. No integrations, no disruption.
Our first agent automates coding workflows and frees up time for medical staff to focus on patients.
We launched in 2024, are backed by top investors (Index, Frst, Y Combinator, Hexa, Kima Ventures, Better Angle), and we’re just getting started.
The future of healthcare isn’t just digital — it’s automated. Come help us build it !
Context
We've closed a $20M Series A with Index Ventures and we now work with 70 clients across France, with international expansion underway. That growth comes with a level of regulation — health data — that our current setup can't keep up with: legal today runs on Paul and the sales team, on top of their actual jobs. That's no longer sustainable.
This is our first legal hire. You'll build the function from scratch — solo, with no legal team around you — and report directly to Paul (our CEO). You'll work hands-on with Finance, Sales and our external counsel, and you'll be the go-to contact for our clients' DPOs, CISOs and legal teams, as well as for the CNIL.
Your mission
Own the entire legal function at Parallel — commercial contracts, GDPR/health data compliance, and corporate matters — so the company can keep growing with confidence in a highly regulated sector, while freeing Paul and Sales from day-to-day legal work.
What you'll do
Commercial & client legal
Negotiate and draft our client contracts, DPAs, and responses to prospects' security/legal questionnaires — take this entirely off Paul's and Sales' plate so they can focus on selling instead of being the mandatory checkpoint on legal topics.
Own our contract templates and playbooks so Sales can move fast with guardrails.
Health data & product
Be our reference on the health data regulatory framework: GDPR for sensitive data, HDS-certified hosting, and ISO 27001 down the line.
Get involved upstream in product specs to build compliance in from the start rather than fixing it after the fact.
Be the trusted counterpart of our clients' DPOs in a market where trust is the product.
Ad hoc & corporate
Own the legal topics that fall outside the day-to-day run: vendor and supplier contracts, corporate operations (M&A, fundraising, governance, equity documentation).
Be the person who manages and coordinates external counsel on these files.
Outcomes
Priority 1 — A professionalized, scalable legal function
Clear processes (who validates what, in what timeframe), reduced legal risk, and a function that no longer depends on Paul or Sales.
Priority 2 — Solid GDPR / health data compliance
Documented compliance, ready to be shown for an audit, a due diligence process, or a CNIL inspection — no grey areas.
Priority 3 — Reusable legal documentation
Contracts, templates and policies that are well-written, up to date and reusable — saving the team time instead of starting from scratch every time.
You are
A qualified lawyer (French bar or equivalent), 3-6 years of experience, ideally with a strong track record at a recognized law firm
A generalist at heart, curious, comfortable across some or all of: GDPR/sensitive data (health data experience, HDS, ISO 27001 are a plus), negotiating B2B tech contracts, corporate/financing/M&A - we care more about your ability to learn fast than about expertise you already have on day one
A builder: pragmatic, autonomous, allergic to legal-for-legal's-sake
Fluent in French and English; German is a big plus
You'll report directly to Paul (CEO) and work hands-on with Finance, Sales and our external counsel. There's no legal team today : this is a solo build, with real room to grow as the company and the function scale.
Based in Paris, this is an on-site role.

Why should you join us?
You're the first legal hire — everything you build, from templates to processes, is yours to define. Real ownership: you step out of the usual hierarchy, make the calls, and are trusted to run with them, with direct access to the CEO and a seat at the table for company-shaping decisions (client negotiations, certifications, M&A, fundraising)
A subject that matters: a highly regulated sector, real legal stakes, and a healthcare mission
Early-stage adventure, with the upside that comes with it
Competitive salary and meaningful equity, plus our standard benefits (Alan health insurance, Swile meal vouchers, Apple equipment, 50% public-transport coverage).
A product that already works, real clients, and a market (hospital finance) where the upside is enormous
A team of brilliant people who want to make Parallel explode
We care about who you are, not just what's on your CV.
If you're drawn to what we're building but don't meet every requirement, we still want to hear from you. Studies show that women in particular tend to apply only when they meet 100% of the criteria. If that's you, please don't let that hold you back. We'd love to receive your application.
