Legal Secretary / Legal Assistant - Litigation

We’re hiring an experienced Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to support a busy Litigation team in our downtown San Diego office. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive litigation professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting complex, high-stakes matters.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a key role in supporting attorneys handling sophisticated and complex commercial litigation matters in federal courts and administrative forums. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, responsive, and capable of managing a heavy litigation desk with competing deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

• Drafting, formatting, proofreading, and managing pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents
• Handling heavy district court e-filing, including federal court filings without the use of a full-service e-filing vendor
• Maintaining attorney calendars and tracking litigation deadlines across multiple matters
• Communicating professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors
• Assisting attorneys with logistics and preparation for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and case strategy meetings
• Supporting matters involving coordinated or complex litigation procedures, including JCCP matters where applicable
• Assisting with matters before the International Trade Commission (“ITC”), or learning ITC procedures and filing requirements as needed
• Collaborating closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative team members to support the overall needs of the practice group

What We’re Looking For

• At least 7 years of litigation legal assistant or litigation legal secretary experience within a law firm environment
• Intellectual property litigation experience strongly preferred; substantial federal court filing experience will also be considered
• Experience with district court e-filing and federal litigation procedures required
• Familiarity with JCCP or other complex litigation matters preferred
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Flexibility and willingness to work occasional late hours to support filing deadlines and trial needs
• Ability to work in the San Diego office at least three days per week
• Interest in or ability to support billable work is a plus

Procopio offers generous total compensation packages. Typical pay range is from $85,000 – $100,000+ depending on experience. If your pay expectation is outside this range, we still encourage you to apply. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance.
