Summary

A fixed-term legal trainee in Paris assists Google’s Legal team with litigation, regulatory compliance, and legal research for Google and YouTube services, focusing on French and EU law.

As a Legal Trainee, you will play an important role in helping Google respond to some of the legal problems of the information age. You will get an insight into a variety of legal issues at Google and YouTube, learning to expect the unexpected while promoting the development of internet law in an unconventional environment. Based in Paris, the legal department at Google offers an opportunity to join the team and assist with legal matters. In this role, you will enhance your organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability, while also getting the opportunity to demonstrate your sound legal judgment, ability to learn quickly in a changing international environment and communicate confidently at all levels.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

France: €30500 (EUR) + 15% bonus target

  • Resolve internal escalations and various legal requests from users and third-parties in relation to Google services.
  • Assist the Legal team in the preparation and management of court actions and in subsequent analysis.
  • Assist in a variety of projects, such as the localization of new Google products, marketing assessments, and the review and drafting of agreements.
  • Conduct research on a variety of legal topics including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), copyright, consumer regulations, media regulations, and advertising.
  • Create and manage internal knowledge databases for the Legal team.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Law from a French university or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in a law firm or a media/technology company.
  • Ability to communicate in French and English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing legal bar qualifications.
  • Experience in legal analysis and research.
  • Experience in data protection, copyright, technology or media law.
  • Experience in building relationships and communicating with people at all levels.
  • Experience working on numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of technology and IT-relevant legal problems and recent developments.
