Lending Regulatory Counsel

You will provide legal and regulatory advice on consumer and commercial lending products, including lending regulations, licensing, bank partnerships, and model risk management. You will lead complex cross-functional regulatory matters, translate risk into actionable guidance for senior stakeholders, assess evolving rules, and support novel consumer financial products from concept through launch.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and regulatory advice on lending products, including Regulation Z, Regulation B, fair lending, and state lending licensing regulations.
  • Advise on consumer and commercial lending, bank partnership arrangements, model risk management, and related financial services activities.
  • Lead resolution of complex cross-functional regulatory and bank partnership issues.
  • Translate legal and regulatory risk into clear, actionable guidance for senior business, product, compliance, and bank partner stakeholders.
  • Summarize and analyze new and evolving rules and regulations and flag business implications.
  • Provide legal support and strategic input for emerging consumer financial products from concept through launch.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience at a law firm, financial services regulatory agency, in a bank partnership role, or in-house.
  • Substantive experience with lending and bank partnership issues and relationships.
  • Ability to independently lead complex legal and regulatory issues to resolution.
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders across legal, compliance, product, and business teams.
  • High degree of comfort and fluency with technology and its application to business and regulatory problems.
  • JD and active membership in good standing with the Bar of the resident state, California Bar, or New York Bar.
