Salary: $125,000 – $140,000 per year

Senior Systems Engineer

Grow your career with a Perth MSP that runs its own private cloud

Austin Technology is a managed services provider based in Subiaco. For over a decade we've looked after a loyal base of WA businesses with a security-first approach, and unlike most MSPs we design, build and run our own private cloud infrastructure across multiple Perth data centres.

We're growing our senior engineering team and looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who wants variety: complex escalations one day, a platform migration the next, and a seat at the table with clients who trust your advice.

Why this role

  • Genuine senior work: you take the escalations others can't, own projects end to end, and consult directly with clients

  • Depth of tech you rarely see in Perth: hyperconverged infrastructure, clustered and software-defined storage, enterprise virtualisation and our own private cloud platform

  • Room to grow: we invest in training and certifications aligned to where you want to take your career

  • A small, capable senior team with direct access to the owners. Decisions get made in days, not committees

What your week looks like

  • Resolving Level 3 escalations across infrastructure, Linux and Windows, Microsoft 365, identity, networking and voice

  • Delivering projects end to end: migrations, virtualisation and storage builds, network fitouts, platform replacements and office moves

  • Meeting clients to solve problems and advise across modern work, security and infrastructure

  • Working with our engineering team to maintain and improve our private cloud and internal platforms

  • Documenting what you build so the whole team benefits

About you

  • You have solid Microsoft 365 depth across Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune and SharePoint, and you can design and troubleshoot identity, device and collaboration environments, not just administer them

  • You're comfortable in Linux: at home in the shell, across services, storage and scripting

  • Your networking is strong: routing, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and the patience to go packet-deep when it matters

  • You understand infrastructure: virtualisation, clustered storage, backup and disaster recovery, on any vendor's platform

  • You pick up new technology quickly and enjoy it. Maybe you've migrated between hypervisors, replaced a storage platform or rolled out a system you'd never touched before. We care more about how you learn than which logos you've used

  • You hold a current driver's licence for client visits across the Perth metro

Bonus points for

  • MSP or multi-client experience, and the context-switching that comes with it

  • Scripting and automation with Bash, PowerShell or Python

  • Exposure to VoIP or unified communications platforms (very learnable here if not)

  • A commercial eye: scoping work, working to budgets and flagging changes early

What we offer

  • Commission on opportunities you identify and close, on the same basis as our sales team

  • Car bay at the office if required but train station only 5 minute walk from the office

  • Paid training and certification support

  • A Subiaco office close to cafes, shops and public transport, with flexibility by arrangement

  • Modern tooling and a security stack done properly, so you spend your time engineering, not firefighting
