As a local builders’ merchant, our deliveries are generally close to the branch, serving customers in the surrounding area.
You’ll work 8.5 hours a day, Monday to Friday, generally between 7am and 5pm - with your evenings free and no night shifts.
Want to earn a little extra? There’s also the opportunity for overtime every other Saturday morning, from 8am to 12pm.
The Role:
Our drivers are the face of Elliotts. For a lot of our customers, you're the person they see most, so how you deal with them really matters. They're a friendly bunch, passionate about giving a great customer experience.
As our Class 1 driver, you’ll drive an articulated lorry, delivering larger loads of building materials to our customers.
Key responsibilities:
Multi drop deliveries of building materials by articulated (Class 1) lorry to customers; both building sites and residential addresses
Coupling and uncoupling trailers, and making sure every load is safely secured before it leaves the yard
Carrying out daily vehicle and trailer checks, and reporting any defects
We're a team so if needed, help the yard team to load and unload lorries
The customer is always our priority and we'll go the extra mile to do whatever it takes
What you need:
Essential:
Full UK Category C+E (Class 1) driving licence
Experience driving articulated vehicles, including coupling and uncoupling trailers
Driver CPC qualification card (Driver Qualification Card)
Digital tachograph card
Good understanding of drivers' hours rules and daily vehicle checks
Friendly, professional manner with customers
Able to work well on your own and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Happy to do some physical work, including handling materials and working outdoors in all weathers
Nice to have (training provided if not):
HIAB or lorry loader certificate
Counterbalance forklift licence
Experience with multi-drop deliveries or construction sites
