Library and Information Assistant/Van Driver/Handyperson

What you’ll be doing:

Providing a responsive and professional service to library users in libraries and at home

Supporting Delivery to libraries across Swansea using council vehicles, including long wheelbase vans

Assisting customers to access information, digital services, and resources.

Working across multiple locations, including lone working where required

What we’re looking for:

Experience of working in a customer-focused environment

Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent service delivery

Ability to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team

Good IT skills and ability to manage information accurately

A full, clean driving licence and experience of driving larger vehicles

Practical skills to complete DIY tasks always using safe working practices

You will be required to work across all Swansea libraries, travel between sites and throughout the whole of Swansea. The role could include some evening and weekend working, and lone working will be required throughout your week.

You would be part of a small, well-supported, friendly team, with fantastic working relationships and an excellent reputation with Partner Agencies. The Adult Safeguarding Team enjoy weekly catchup meetings, ensuring your well-being is always top of the agenda. The Adult Safeguarding Team have regular peer group sessions to discuss cases and debate rationales, to ensure a streamlined approach to the safeguarding work that is undertaken. This also provides opportunities for learning and reflective practice.

The Adult Safeguarding Team have the benefit of their own designated Business Support Team, which ensures your valuable time is fully utilised appropriately.

The role is exciting and varied. We require a compassionate and knowledgeable qualified Social Worker with 3 years or more experience, with excellent communication engagement abilities. You will require a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and best practice. A commitment to promoting dignity, safety and respect for vulnerable adults is essential. You are required to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a complex safeguarding caseload.
